Who we are

Shad is a fishing journal and exploration app. This policy covers the Shad iOS app, the Shad website, and the accounts behind them.

What we collect

Account. If you sign in, we store the identifiers from Apple or Google (or an email magic link), plus the name, handle, and optional profile photo you add.

Journal. Catches you log: species, size, notes, photos, the water you pick, and the location you choose to save. Photos go to private storage. Exact coordinates stay on your account.

Location. We read GPS only when you ask — tagging a catch, opening Shadline on your phone, or allowing the website preview to use this browser. We do not track you in the background.

Device and usage. Standard auth and security logs (sign-in time, app version). Map tiles may send the map viewport to Mapbox. That is not a catch pin.

Website. The public site stores a theme preference on this device. We do not run advertising pixels.

How we use it

To run your journal, aquarium, Shadline forecast, and map.

To keep spots private. Other people never get your exact coordinates. Public activity is aggregates only — counts by water or a coarse area, not a pin on your dock.

To process Shad+ if you subscribe through Apple.

We do not sell your journal, photos, or location.

Who else sees data

Supabase hosts auth, the database, and photo storage under our contract.

Mapbox renders maps on the website preview and in the app. Open-Meteo provides weather used by Shadline. Vercel hosts the public website.

Apple and Google handle sign-in when you choose those buttons in the app.

We do not share catch coordinates with Mapbox, analytics, or other users.

What you control

Edit your profile or delete a catch at any time in the app.

Sign out from Settings. Delete your account in the iPhone app under Settings to erase your journal, photos, and login. You can also write the email above.

On the website, the Shadline preview can run from a default lake (Lake Travis) if you decline location.

Children

Shad is not directed at children under 13. Do not create an account if you are under 13.

How long we keep it

Account and journal data stay until you delete them or ask us to erase the account.

Security logs are kept only as long as needed to operate the service.
